How to use the tap die

1. The opening of the threaded bottom hole on the workpiece should be chamfered, and both ends of the through hole thread should be chamfered.

2. The position of the workpiece clamp must be correct, and the center line of the threaded hole should be placed in a horizontal or vertical position as far as possible, so that it is easy to judge whether the tap axis is perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece during tapping.

3. At the beginning of tapping, put the tap as straight as possible, then apply pressure to the tap and turn the twisting hand. When cutting 1-2 turns, carefully check and correct the position of the tap. Generally, when cutting into 3-4 circles of thread, the position of the tap should be correct. In the future, it is only necessary to turn the twisting hand, and no more pressure should be applied to the tap, otherwise the thread profile will be damaged.

4. When tapping, every time you turn the twister 1/2-1 turn, you should reverse it about 1/2 turn, so that the chips can be easily discharged after being broken, and it can reduce the phenomenon that the cutting edge is stuck due to sticking chips.

5. When tapping an impassable screw hole, the tap should be withdrawn frequently to remove chips in the hole.

6. When tapping the screw holes of plastic materials, lubricating coolant should be added. For steel materials, machine oil or emulsified liquid with higher concentration is generally used, and rapeseed oil or molybdenum disulfide can be used with higher requirements. For stainless steel, No. 30 engine oil or vulcanized oil can be used.

7. When changing to the next tap during the tapping process, it should be screwed into the tapped thread by hand until it can no longer be screwed in, and then turned with a wrench. When the end cone is tapped and withdrawn, it is also necessary to avoid turning the twisting hand quickly. It is best to unscrew it by hand to ensure that the quality of the thread that has been tapped will not be affected.

8. During machine tapping, the tap and the screw hole must be coaxial.

9. During machine tapping, the calibrated part of the tap should not be all out of the head, otherwise there will be disordered teeth when the tap is withdrawn from the reverse machine
